We slept in greenhouses and we had giant dustbins for toilets.
Gopeng was awesome!

Right, back to what I'm supposed to do. Blogging about human communication.
Having left off from the topic about listening, I shall now proceed to talking about non-verbal communication.
*smile* That, was a form of non-verbal communication.
"*tsk* *tsk* *tsk*" is what I hear from my mom each time when either one of us kids are at the computer.
*stare*, that is my dog's form of indicating that they want my food, which is in my hand.
All these are forms of non-verbal communication that happens around me, and with most people too. Just like what was said during our lecture, non-verbal communication is indeed important for communication. Even if we aren't able to make any sounds, we can still communicate through sign languages, hand signals and body language. Even the sounds that we make are considered as a form of non-verbal communication too. Just like what Yen Wan wrote in her blog post previously, her cousin's brother could communicate even though he was deaf and mute, which is a perfect example of non-verbal languageas deaf people do not talk like how we normally do. We normally take for granted the ability to talk that was given to us, though I'm sure that when we get sore throat or even laryngitis for some, we tend to appreciate our voices slightly more after that (though after a few days we'll probably wound up taking it for granted again).
But, have you ever given thought to what would happen if you actually DID lose your voice? You would have to rely completely on non-verbal communication then. Touching, body language, hand gestures, sound effects and so on, your life would pretty much become like the game charades. But, if you actually sat down to think, you would find that there are many living beings that actually can't talk like us humans. Humans are the only beings that are able to talk, with the occasional parrots and the so-called genius animals that can somehow bark out "rrroneerrr" and their owners become deliriously happy because their dog managed to "speak"; I find that creepy though, dogs just aren't meant to talk. The whole idea of animals being to talk like humans are just NOT something normal. Imagine if you woke up one morning and your dog could talk:
Dog: "Ruff! Morning master! I think I have a tick stuck up my ass!"
Master: "......"
I would very much prefer dogs that just barked and whined like normal dogs. Thank you very much.
Now that I'm on the topic of dogs and animals, do you realize that all animals do not TALK? They use non-verbal communication. Throughout their whole lives! All 15 years for dogs and all 14 years for cats averagely, they use non-verbal language for the whole period when they are alive. Take for example my dogs, Gypsy and Kuro. Whenever they know that I have food (I don't know how they know, but they just KNOW), they'll look at me with their heart-melting eyes and plop their asses on the floor instantly, while staring at me with the message :"GIVE ME FOOD!!!" Oh yes, I can read my dogs' non-verbal communication perfectly. If they were to turn their butts towards me and stare at me, then at their butt, it would mean that they want their backs scratched because it's itchy, and they'll stay that way till I give them a scratch. If they were to see me at the doorway, my dogs would stare at me, then pass me at the couch, which would mean they want to go into the house to jump and sleep on the couch, if you were not to let them in, they would start making such a racket outside that I have to give them eggs to shut them up. Wow, and I just realized something else about non-verbal communication. It can be extremely monopolizing, just like how my dogs are manipulating me.
Holy.
Crap.
Thought of Human Communication so far : I have no idea on what to do for persuasive speaking. *insert sarcasm* a mouse that squeaks mabye. Hah.
